Computer literacy is an essential skill for quality of life. Computers are used for everything from accessing resources for school work and connecting with teachers to applying for jobs and managing your finances. The need for computer skills became especially evident during the remote learning days of the pandemic — knowing how to navigate a computer and online resources helps you provide support for your children with their school work and projects.
CHAT offers a Computer Literacy Program (CLP) to help adults learn computer basics. Through the CLP, computer basics classes are offered at no cost with classes held virtually and led by a CHAT tutor. Depending on the course, the series may last from just a few weeks to a few months with the classes meeting once or twice a week, with English and Spanish class options provided.
Topics covered in the courses include:
CLP is set up to allow participants to attend all of the classes in the course or just the classes with topics that interest them. However, if the participants attend all of the classes, they receive CHAT’s certificate of completion.
New courses are available several times a year, with registration required to attend. At this time we do not have the date set for our next round of classes.
To learn more about upcoming classes, please contact Aisha.Siddiqui@chattx.org or sign up for our email newsletter at http://eepurl.com/goSqYb.
Please note, the CLP classes take place online, so access to a computer and the internet is required. A limited number of laptops and WiFi hotspots are available to students who demonstrate need (upon the availability of supplies); you can inquire about these when you register.
We look forward to seeing you in our next class!
