Big Changes for CHAT

Today marked the end of an era for Culture of Health – Advancing Together (CHAT) – it was our last day at the Ashford Crescent Oaks apartment complex.  While others spent the day preparing for a fun-filled spooky night, our staff marked the day by packing up boxes and moving them out. It was a bittersweet task.

The move was unexpected, leaving CHAT without enough time to secure a new location. We are actively seeking a new space and are working with partners and community members to find something new, short-term or long-term. When we find a new location, we’ll share the address with our community. In the meanwhile, some of our programs will be put on pause.

CHAT has been operating from an apartment in Ashford Crescent Oaks since 2017. The location, in the heart of Gulfton, has made it easier to connect with immigrant and refugee families who lack the language, culture, and transportation to go out and seek resources. The easy-to-access location has made it easier for these families to obtain help through CHAT when necessary – we were among them every day.

We will miss the convenience of our old home. And we especially will miss the people in the community. We’re sorry to go. But we won’t go far, and we’ll visit soon.
