Tayma Machkhas

Program Coordinator

Tayma Machkhas is a senior in the Honors College at the University of Houston majoring in Health (BS) and Anthropology (BS), with a minor in Medicine and Society. In the Fall of 2020, she decided to intern with CHAT to complete her internship requirement for her health major. She got involved with CHAT because she thinks that immigrant and refugee health and well-being is incredibly important. She was especially drawn to CHAT’s holistic approach; with the non-profit not only focusing on access to health and social determinants, but also placing a huge importance on education, intercultural communication, and the arts.

Tayma is now working for CHAT as a Program Coordinator. She is currently helping with the development of a curriculum for CHAT’s Girl’s Club, as well as recruitment, workshop implementation, and volunteer coordination for this project. She also assists with CHAT Academy, and the intern’s short-term / long-term projects.

Her hobbies are traveling, photography, and cooking. She is fluent in English, French, and Arabic.
