This is a multicultural lunchtime program for high school students where students of various cultures meet every week and cultural contributions are recognized through ethnic food, music, and presentations.
Lunch & Learn
This is a bi-weekly lunchtime gather of refugee and immigrant women for educational support to address the challenges of their current situation, encompassing a wide variety of topics.
A weekly event where children gather to read stories related to health and wellness and take part in fun activities reinforcing what they’re learning.
This is a bi-weekly class, sharing multi-cultural culinary skills. The classes are led by the refugee women and are open to all women living in the neighborhood.
Houston Center for Photography Class
A weekly workshop designed to guide young children in the community, aged 7-12, through the basics of photography skills. Registration is now closed.
An ongoing project to collect basic demographic and health information utilizing a questionnaire and multi-lingual community members serving as interviewers.
Tutors are needed from both the Gulfton community and outside community to help students in the community with homework and reinforcing concepts of elementary, middle and high school. College-readiness and guidance will also be available.
Women Teaching Women
CHAT plans to start a series of events for women to share their culture with each other through arts, crafts, and recipes, and also giving them a space to meet, get out of the house, and chat!
Skills training/Job resources
Collaborate with Plant It Forward to organize the creation of an urban garden next to the CHAT building with youth from the community.
Community Cleanup Crew
Work with youth group of the neighborhood to clean De Moss block, from Bintliff to Tarnef.
